Board of Trustees
The CAA Board of Trustees are dedicated to providing high-quality education to the students of Albany.
Allen Hughes, is the Chairman of the Board of New Schools Georgia, Inc. He is a retired businessman born and raised in Albany, and along with his wife, Teresa, is the founder of the Hughes Family Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit, with the mission of creating high quality school options for disadvantaged children across Georgia. Mr. Hughes has a long history of supporting programs designed to provide more educational opportunities to Georgia’s families, including his service, since inception, on the board of GOAL, the largest private scholarship organization in Georgia administering Georgia’s tuition tax credit scholarship program.
Wendell Christian, a native of Albany, GA, is a retired educator with over 40 years of experience as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, superintendent and employee of the Georgia Department of Education. Beginning his career as a classroom teacher, Mr. Christian spent nearly 20 years as the principal of three high schools in Rome, Vidalia, and Gainesville; he also served for five years as the superintendent of the Candler and Berrien County School Districts.
Robert Thorpe is an Albany, GA, native, having attended Albany’s schools before desegregation. He’s a retired educator with more than two decades of experience as a middle and high school principal.
Stan Logue is the chief financial officer of Thrush Aircraft, an Albany-based manufacturing company with more than 100 employees. Prior to Thrush, Mr. Logue spent thirty years in corporate finance, investment banking and management. His background includes managing billons in debt for a utility, financing hospitals, schools, jails and waste facilities for city, county and state governments.
Christopher E. Ward currently serves as a Deputy Judge with the Municipal Court of Atlanta. A graduate of Morehouse College and the University of Miami School of Law, Judge Ward, prior to his appointment to the Municipal Court in 2012, was a staff attorney with the Fulton County District Attorney’s office, and in-house counsel with Georgia Power.
